International Professional Development

In order to build the an international schools partnership a thorough professional development programme for London Heads and teachers in Beijing is established.

This is generally a 5 day working programme with London teachers teaching in Beijing classrooms and management forums for Headteachers. Common themes are assessment, different styles of teaching and learning and citizenship.

Each partnership then agrees an action plan to deliver the curriculum project for their students. The Beijing heads, teachers and students may then visit London for a reciprocal professional development programme.

The evaluations have clearly identified the powerful impact on London teachers and as a consequence many have reassessed their curriculum priorities and views of China and its impact on the UK over the lifespan of their current pupils.

This programme supported by the London Grid for Learning (LGfL) and London Local authorities and schools. Teachers and students use the portal (http://www.londonchina.lgfl.net) to communicate with their partners , teachers and students.
