FE/Vocational Skills

The objectives of the FE/Vocational stream are to enable London Colleges to form a partnership in their specialist (CoVE) areas with their equivalent institution in Beijing. This has led to curriculum partnerships and joint curriculum development with an emphasis on staff development and student exchanges.

A focus on vocational preparations for the Olympics and increased tourism is a key theme within the programme linking with the London Mayor’s initiatives in this area. Staff and leadership development are integral to the programme with leadership visits and conferences taking place in both cities. Future developments will include exchange of students for short and possibly long programmes and work on internationally recognised accreditation.

Some of the participating London colleges are considering repositioning the college to understand the global challenges and opportunities that China presents. They are also looking at extending their global branding through partnership in Beijing and supporting the Mayor’s strategy for making London a welcoming city in terms of skills for Chinese inward investment.
